Emissions testing is required annually in Douglas County and the 12 other metro Atlantic counties. If your vehicle is registered in the Atlanta Metro Area, you must pass an emissions test before you can complete registration. Emissions testing can be performed at a certified inspection facility, as identified by Georgia's Clean Air Force (GCAF).
Douglas County Auto Care is an authorized emissions testing and repair station serving Douglasville, GA, Lithia Springs, GA, Hiram, GA , and surrounding areas.
We test 1996 and newer vehicles.
Here's what we offer:
During an emissions test, we perform a visual inspection of the catalytic converter to check for tampering or removal. An OBD test is performed to check the emissions control performance history of your vehicle.
If your vehicle is a 1996 to newer model year gasoline-powered car or light-duty truck (8,500 pounds gross vehicle weight rating or less) registered in Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, Coweta, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry, Paulding or Rockdale County, it must be emissions tested.
The three most recent model year vehicles are exempt from emissions testing each year.
Additionally, vehicles that are 25 model years or older are exempt from emissions testing.
At the end of an emissions test, one of our service technicians will present you with certificate showing the results of your emissions test.
Well-maintained vehicles usually pass the emissions test first time unless there is a component failure that has not been repaired or a manufacturer’s defect. Standards have been set to take into consideration the age of your vehicle as well as the emissions control components available at the time your vehicle was manufactured. If your car fails, it must be repaired and retested.
You'll receive one free retest if you return to the original inspection station within 30 calendar days of your initial inspection (Note: 30 days includes the date and the time of your initial inspection).
Help keep Georgia a clean and healthy state. Pay attention to engine performance and stay on top of the maintenance schedule found in your owner's manual. For more information about Georgia’s Emissions Testing Requirements, visit the Clean Air Force website.
